late winter whites
After an initially slow start to Winter in New England I wanted to provide some seasonal inspiration. Trends come and go, but the season’s shift provides a pull to all things cozy, classic, and sculptural.
One of my favorite sources for inspiration, Trend Bible, noted a departure from “stark minimalist” interiors with a draw to spaces that have “Neo-classical” details that they are coining “Modern Renaissance” in their Home & Interiors Retail Trends: Autumn Winter 2023/24 Report.
These pieces from Billiani showcase familiar details like fluting, scallops, and carving in a somewhat exaggerated or playful scale.
Designed by Egidio Panzera for Billiani, the idea for Grapevine comes from vine branches and the desire to replicate their natural twist on a table base. The legs, all the same, are placed in the center of the table and rotated 90° in succession. The result is a sculptural design of great dynamism, which appears different according to the observer’s point of view. Initially conceived in knotty walnut, with its intense colour, the base was then developed to include beech and in different metal finishes, achieving a versatility that makes it suitable for outdoor environments.
