back in the saddle

The most difficult and complicated part of the writing process is the beginning.

There are so many idioms to describe this act of getting back in the saddle or returning to something you’ve left behind at one time or another. They say, it is just like riding a bike…and that may be true, but there is still a feeling of fear and reticence. The internal monologue returns. “Am I any good at this? Will anyone read this? What value is this bringing to my clients/friends? Where do I start?” September for so many of us marks the beginning of a new school year. Much like January is a time to reacess and set goals…September offers a reset or another place to start something new. Let this be a time for you to get back to something you love or refocus on goals you set for yourself in January.

One of the joys in this business is sharing something that brings me joy or inspiration to you. I think that is the key to my success and back when I launched a blog format website while working with Joe Kerwin, these same questions above ran through my head. The reality was that I got great feedback from several unexpected colleagues that pushed me to continue. I’m hopeful, as I flex my editorial muscles again, that you find something of use here. Let’s dialogue here too…I want to know what inspires you, and if there is something you want to know more about.

As a new entrepreneur, there is a lot to my day that pulls me away from the passion of discovery but is necessary to keeping this young business alive. Not wanting to add to my already full plate, I’m using this platform to renew my spirit and enjoy the ride. If it becomes a drag or I’m not finding inspiration in the process…you’ll see the frequency dissipate.

I’m hopeful that you too will return to something that brought you joy…even if it has been years since you’ve done it. For me, it is this editorial format of sharing a bit more behind a product or brand, or even an art exhibit, trip or concert I’ve attended.

You can’t finish…if you don’t start!
